My Favorite Robot Records team up with hot property Murphy Jax for a superb Ep of 80’s synth drenched electronica backed by remixes from Jori Hulkkonen and Dance Disorder…

Just when you think Canada’s My Favorite Robot Records can’t get any better they pull out another release that ups the ante on their already impressive musical output. This time the label steered by the My Favorite Robot duo and James Teej have joined forces with the hotly tipped Berlin based producer, Murphy Jax. Jax was behind one of last year’s big records, the superb ‘It’s the Music’ featuring vocals from the legendary Mike Dunn. Released on Clone, it instantly became an anthem and was voted by a leading German music magazine as being one of the top 20 records of 2010.

Murphy Jax has further material due out on Clone later in the year and is also set for a release on Turbo, but he has taken time out to join up with one of North America’s hottest labels, My Favorite Robot Records, for this superb EP of 80’s synth inspired disco and electronica.

The ‘Masters of Meta Space EP’ kicks off with three original recordings, the first of which is ‘Wings of a Galaxy Night’, a slo-mo journey into dubby disco with a warm analog bass line, arpeggiated synths, and understated old school drum patterns. This is followed by ‘Master of Meta Space’, which again gels deep retro synth work with 80’s inspired melodies, and comes on like a lost track from the ‘Warriors’ soundtrack. The final original is ‘The Astro Disco’ which turns up the cosmic elements, blending electronic pads, 80’s electro style vocals and layers of synths to create a brilliantly emotive piece.

Remix duties fall first to Finnish house and disco producer Jori Hulkkonen who takes ‘Wings of a Galaxy Night’ and creates a Moroder inspired masterpiece with a rich filmic quality to it and a tight relentless groove. The second and final remix comes from Germany’s Dance Disorder who rework ‘The Astro Disco’ into a dark and futuristic slice of techno fuelled electro that makes the most of the synth parts and delivers an intense musical workout.

The ‘Masters of Meta Space EP’ is a superb release; part disco, part electro, part edgy soundtrack, it is a record that is bound to find favour with all lovers of electronic music and is set to further cement the reputation of the brilliant My Favorite Robot Records.
