Canada’s red hot My Favorite Robot Records follows up a string of blistering summer singles with a release from the awesome Michael J Collins…..

The summer of 2010 has most definitely been an exciting time for Toronto’s electronic music scene; whilst Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow have been breaking down doors with their massive Art Department release on Crosstown Rebels and James Teej has been conquering Europe with Rekids, their close friends at My Favorite Robot have released a string of outstanding singles, signed a deal with Kompakt and struck a key license deal with one of their recent singles.

My Favorite Robot Records has been an interesting and open minded label since its inception in late 2008, but the recent incredible music from the likes of Sasse & Phonogenic, James Teej, Kenny Glasgow, The Model and My Favorite Robot themselves has made people sit up and pay attention to this relatively young label.

For the latest release, MFR have recruited sometime Wolf & Lamb artist and hot producer of the moment Michael J Collins.

The single kicks off with Collins’ original of ‘All Alone (even by your side)’, a superb slo-mo house cut with old school analog synth lines and rich chords providing the soundbed for the emotive and subtle vocal line. This is simple, understated electronic music at its best, delivered by a producer who is clearly at the top of his game.

The remixes for ‘All Alone (even by your side)’ come from My Favorite Robot, who deliver a beautifully warm electro inspired deep house reworking and Paul Loraine, who strips things back for a brilliantheads down hypnotic workout.

The second original track comes in the form of ‘Transistor’, a delicious low-slung techy piece whose laid back tempo, ethereal vocal snippets and heavily effected stabs make for an incredible deep and dubby atmosphere, wonderful stuff.

Finally the much lauded James Teej takes control and uses ‘Transistor’ to give an incredible Chicago inspired house music masterclass.

My Favorite Robot Records are releasing some of the most exciting electronic music around and are at the heart of the new rising sound of Canada’s finest, this is another chapter from this superb label that cannot be missed…..
